Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (Start German 1) Exam Schedule
The official list below only shows reserved time periods not confirmed exams. Please confirm with your instructor if the final exam for a course will be scheduled during this time.

Locations
The Exam Schedule lists locations where DEP conducts operator certification exams. Please consult individual exam pages for additional guidelines, terms and conditions and exam content. If you need special accommodations because of chronic illness, hearing or visual impairment, or any other disability, contact the exam provider and provide detailed documents when you register.
The Faculty Dashboard in Workday has the option of "View My Teaching Schedule" that allows faculty to locate their exam schedules. In addition, the Registrar's Office has a list of exam times for classes where an exam is required by NYSED regulations. Final exams for evening classes are scheduled during the regular class time of the final exams.

Registration
The exam schedule is available online and students are advised to consult it. However it is important to note that the exam schedule could be altered at any time. Students should therefore check with their instructors for the correct time and date of their exam. Students should also print the official list of questions to bring to their exam.

Exam locations will do their best to accommodate those with special needs. The nature and degree of these requirements must be stated on the registration form, and then confirmed by a doctor's attestation. The locations for the exam must adhere to confidentiality.
If students are scheduled to take three exams on the same day, they must contact their department or instructor to schedule a make-up test. It is possible to take three examinations on the same day. However, this can lead to a high level of stress and can affect the quality. Additionally, the instructor may not be able to give a makeup exam on a different day.
Students should review the course material prior to taking the test and work on their German skills. The test is a written test that tests your ability to read and write, as well as speak German. The exam results are reported on a scale of A1 to C2. Students who pass the test receive the Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate confirms that the student has attained the level of A1 in their language. This level is the initial stage of the six-level scale of competence outlined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The exam is free. Students are required to bring a valid government ID to the exam. Those without a valid photo identification will be disqualified.
Fees
If you have completed your studies at Elan Academy and wish to receive a Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (start German 1), you must pay the exam fee. This is in addition to the cost of the course.
Practice tests give you an overview of the format, wording and difficulty of the questions on the exam. They let you assess your proficiency, identify gaps in your knowledge and increase your chances of passing the exam.
Please be aware that the exam fee is non-refundable. Exam results can only by emailed and not via telephone.
